Wells Fargo Control Management Executive in West Des Moines, Iowa

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Control Management Executive (CME) for Consumer & Small Business Banking (CSBB), leading the Deposit Product Group (DPG) Control Management team, and will reporting to the CSBB Control Management Executive. The DPG CME will join the DPG leadership team to provide risk and control management and execution support across banking business activities and strategic priorities. The leader will manage a team of control management professionals, interact with support and challenge partners, and drive priorities to execute key risk management priorities and programs. The senior leader also will serve as a member of the CSBB Control leadership team, influencing and acting as a 'leader among peers' within that team on various CSBB-wide initiatives.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide vision and set direction for overall operations within a specific line of business including multiple high-impact initiatives to achieve long-term strategic objectives that impact organization and management across functions.

  • Collaborate with peers and more experienced leaders to develop Escalations functional aspect of highly complex, multi-year projects, as well as strategies, goals, and business ventures.

  • Provide thought leadership within Escalations to develop and implement strategic solutions to highly complex and potentially companywide business challenges by ensuring effective data and analytics capabilities, change control, governance infrastructure, and complaints reporting.

  • Develop and implement an Escalations operating model to create an industry leading approach towards consumer remediation.

  • Lead a team of managers and experienced professionals and develop long-term, high-risk strategies for Escalations functional area to facilitate and establish robust line of business complaint accountabilities and improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with and influence all levels of professionals, including peers and more experienced leadership.

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in Escalations functional area.

  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 8 + years of Risk Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 4 + years of Management experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Outstanding executive communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of presenting to senior leaders and to management committees.

  • Deep working knowledge of Deposit Product, including Consumer and Small Business Products Development, Product Management, Operations, Process, customer interactions and communications.

  • Deep working knowledge of Deposit Payments and Money Movement products, including, Debit Card, Zelle, Online Wires, Bill Pay, Direct Pay and Express Send

  • Substantial experience executing risk management programs, particularly operational risk programs (e.g., issue management and RCSA) and managing compliance and conduct risks.

Job Expectations:

  • Running the business-aligned control management team, including issue management, risk and control self-assessment (RCSA), and operational risk event management.

  • Partnering with business heads and independent risk management leaders to understand the control framework for the business and strengthening that control framework in alignment with business growth initiatives.

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing team that is expected to deliver high-quality results on behalf of the business that it supports.

  • Working across lines of business (within CSBB and across Wells Fargo) and lines of defense to better understand risks and applicable controls and utilizing that understanding to achieve better outcomes for the business and the firm.

  • Participating in various committees and leadership groups, helping to shape the strategic vision for the DPG and for DPG Control.

  • Developing an effective set of procedures to guide risk management routines.

  • Driving risk reporting to support responsible business leaders and conforming to cross-business standards in content scope and format.

  • Supporting the business to manage and respond to Internal Audit, exam, and testing engagements.
