Description

We are in the pursuit of a dedicated Plant Controller to be a part of our team in the manufacturing industry in Sioux City, Iowa. This role involves the accurate preparation of financial statements, comprehensive financial leadership, and the coordination of operating and capital budgets. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in the daily operations of the accounting department and related functions, ensuring the accurate and timely recording, processing, and reporting of all financial activity.

Responsibilities

• Timely preparation of financial statements and related reporting requirements.

• Provide comprehensive financial and accounting leadership to the plant management team.

• Develop and maintain a strong internal control structure and related policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Coordinate the preparation of operating and capital budgets and compare them to actual results.

• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department and related functions including general ledger, inventories, hogs and other payables and yields.

• Monitor, review, and analyze period closing process for plant operations and related reports, identifying errors or areas of concern and making recommendations to resolve.

• Perform management reporting such as operational analysis, flux analysis, financial review, and the development of management reports as requested.

• Participate in management meetings to provide input on costing, expenses, capital investments, and other financial matters related to existing or developing products and customers.

• Proactively identify opportunities that can contribute outside the traditional sphere of influence, including working actively with plant operations on improvement activities and assisting purchasing and maintenance departments to effectively manage inventory balances.

• Provide day-to-day leadership to a team of accounting professionals to ensure the highest levels of service and facilitate continuous improvement of the team.

Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Plant Controller role or similar within the Food & Food Processing industry

• Proven expertise in Accounting Functions and Budget Processes

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required

• Extensive knowledge and experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting within the Manufacturing Industry

• Proficiency in analyzing, preparing, and reviewing Financial Statements including audited, consolidated, year-end, and monthly financial statements

• Understanding and application of GAAP Accounting principles

• Experience in managing Capital Assets and Budgets, including preparation of annual budgets and forecasting

• Skills in Cash and Inventory forecasting

• Ability to manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Period End Closing and Operational Activities

• Understanding of Operational Metrics and providing Operational Oversight

• Proficiency in Flux Analysis, Costing, and Expense Analysis

• Experience in Expense Budget and Capital Management, including Capital Improvement and understanding of Capital Markets

• Proficiency in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Infor M3, and Microsoft Office Suites

• Experience with Cognos and other relevant software

• Ability to execute General Ledger duties and manage Expense Management

• Proven track record in successfully leading and managing a team in a manufacturing company.
