1 - First Shift

Are you the type of person who is hands-on technical leader of welded structures, engine systems and hydraulic equipment of construction and agricultural equipment? In this role you will research, analyze, design, build, and test new equipment while being a mentor to the entire product development team. We’re looking for a creative problem solver to mentor teams in designing equipment that will feed the people and build the infrastructure of the world.

What You’ll Do

  1. Strong ability to use engineering principals and industry knowledge to analyze complex data and/or develop advanced CAD models to optimize design opportunities while also leading others in these topics & tools.

  2. Provide a high level of technical knowledge and engineering principles to invent, design, document, build and test new solutions for assigned industry using electrical, hydraulic, and structural engineering disciplines.

  3. Use and instruct others in the use of SolidWorks, PDMWorks , FEA, ECN tools and other design tools to produce prototype parts while developing best practices.

  4. Work in a team environment and mentor team members to ensure their performance exceeds or meets expectations . Expert at identifying project risks and executing mitigation strategies.

  5. Expert at coordinating, executing, and reviewing results from machine testing to ensure designs meet performance and reliability criteria.

  6. Be a relationship leader with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure project success and spread technical knowledge across Vermeer engineering and engineering functions.

    What We’re Looking For

  • Four-year college degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agriculture of Electrical Engineering and eight years’ experience or equivalent education and experience .

  • Proficient with multiple software packages including, but not limited to, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel, Access and Word, product design software, PowerPoint, MathCAD , Glovia , Outlook, e-mail and nCode Glyphworks .

  • Expertise in root cause identification of manufactured or purchased component failures.

  • Deep knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including continuous improvement and lean, FEA evaluation, CFD, stress analysis, statistics, strength of materials, hydraulics, electrical systems, design and manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to function productively with all internal and external personnel to manage, design, build, sell, service and operate machines.

  • Ability to create robust design, identify changes early in the design progress and to recognize design commonality.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals, including continuous improvement and lean, FEA evaluation, CFD, stress analysis, statistics, strength of materials, hydraulics, electrical systems, design and manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet the needs and schedules of internal customers and respond immediately to production questions and crisis with solutions.

  • Ability to develop a test plan, submit a detailed corporate test request, be present during execution of the test, and review/process test data, providing meaningful results.

    Travel

  • Occasional travel is expected of this position.

Work Location

ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
