Description:

Administration Functions:

• Schedule, coordinate, and monitor appointments

• Schedule inpatient/outpatient admissions and procedures

• Obtain and manage patient information and medical histories

• Obtain reimbursement through accurate claims submission

• Perform procedural and diagnostic coding

• Perform inventory of supplies and equipment

• Performs routine maintenance of administrative and clinical equipment

Clinical Functions:

• Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control

• Complies with established risk management and safety procedures

• Screen and follow up patient test results

• Collect and process specimens

• Perform diagnostic tests

• Obtain patient history and vital signs

• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas

• Prepare and assist provider with patient for examinations, procedures, and treatments

• Prepare and administer medications and immunizations

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, has passed the Certification Examination of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), and maintains currency of the CMA credential.

EXPERIENCE: Previous experience as a CMA is required. Clinical setting experience is preferred.

• Skilled in meeting the growth and development needs of all patient groups. Possesses knowledge and understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation processes of these patient groups.

• Must be a team player and able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment

• Possess excellent communication and customer service skills

• Displays a professional manner and image

• Demonstrates initiative and responsibility

• Able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks
