Job Description

The Iowa Veterans Home is now accepting applications for anAccounting Tech 3. This applicant will be the lead worker for the Resident Finance office.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Gather and interpret a variety of financial information and update each resident’s accounting profile accordingly.

• Conduct in-depth interviews with residents and/or legal representatives to determine available resources, obtain verifications, liquidation processes, and explain IVH billing processes.

• Review, identify and apply for all potential income sources for residents to ensure they are receiving the greatest benefit.

• Assist supervisor in assuring that work assignments are carried out, distributing workload, and training.

•Interprets rules/regulations and provides technical assistance in the handling of unusual

problems, using knowledge of accepted accounting principles and procedures.

•Be a back-up to the Resident Finance Supervisor in submitting the monthly Medicaid per diem billing, as well as a back-up for the billing processes, including monthly bill run, billing statements, and bank statements.

•Review monthly reports and develop and maintain any and all spreadsheets.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalency and experience equal to five years of accounting work involving compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal program data using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;

OR

completion of a post-high school accounting curriculum from an accredited vocational, technical, business or community college, with at least twenty semester hours of accounting coursework;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of clerical office work for each year of the required education;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of accredited post high school education in Business, Accounting or a closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;

OR

employees withcurrentcontinuous service in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to one year of full-time work as an Accounting Technician 2.
