Heartland Area Education Agency Speech Language Pathologist in Johnston, Iowa

Description:

Heartland AEA has a full-time position for the 2024-25 school year and will have a 192-day contract. The assignment will be based in the Johnston Regional Education Center serving the Urbandale School district. The successful applicant will have experience applying principles, methods and procedures for an analysis of speech and language comprehension and production to determine communicative competencies of children. The position requires experience with direct service and problem solving, assessment and intervention, along with collaborative and consultative services related to speech and language development as well as disorders of communication that adversely affect a child's performance. In addition, the SLP must be able to build strong collaborative relationships with the LEA, parents, and community partners. Preference will be given to SLPs with expertise and experience working with students who have significant disabilities and have complex communication needs including augmentative and alternative communication. Preference will also be given to SLPs with experience working with ELL learners.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must be appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (or have the ability to obtain a license), hold a master's degree in speech pathology or communication disorders and possess a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with parents, team members, administrators and LEA staff.
