POSITION PURPOSE:

Under limited supervision, performs general radiologic procedures. In doing so, assumes responsibility coordinating the activities for designated area(s) and procedures. The age of the patients served range from infants to geriatrics.

What you will do:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.

  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

  • Produces quality radiographs by utilizing adequate positioning skills, knowledge of radiographic equipment, proper technical factors, and sending images to PACS for interpretation. This would be pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics.

  • Informs patients of examinations being performed and obtains consent to perform procedure.

  • Transports patients to and from Radiology as needed.

  • Performs and assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics using independent judgment to properly complete the examination in a timely matter.

  • Practices proper radiation protection techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards in regards to self, patients, when ionizing radiation is present.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of office procedures and duties within the Radiology Department.

  • Checks requisitions and charts to confirm the correct examination and obtain any other information needed prior to performing the examination.

  • Verifies correct patient using two patient identifiers before beginning a procedure.

  • Maintains daily supplies in assigned work area and recommends reordering of items.

  • Demonstrates activities to impact change within the department and with other departments.

  • Promotes and establishes effective relationships within the department, with other departments, physicians, and with hospital guests and clients.

  • Takes an active role in enhancing abilities to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development.

  • Demonstrates a customer focused/professional behavior at all times.

  • Maintains the standard continuing education requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

  • Possess a current permit to practice diagnostic radiography for the Iowa Department of Public Health

  • Must have basic knowledge of radiation safety standards.

  • Must be certified in Basic Life Support.

  • Must have minimum typing skills.

  • Must be able to select proper technical factors for radiation equipment.

  • Must have a high degree of independent decision-making ability.

  • Must be able to work well with patients, visitors, and staff and possess good communication skills.

  • Must have knowledge of sterile technique.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests in a helpful, courteous manner.

  • Must be competent to provide care within assigned unit to the population described in the unit's description of services.
