Robert Half Senior Accounts Payable Specialist in Des Moines, Iowa

Description We are in the search for a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in DES MOINES, Iowa. In this role, you will oversee accounts payable processes, ensure accurate transaction records, and handle day-to-day operational tasks. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily transactional operations in the accounts payable department

• Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before processing payments

• Handle the processing of checks, wire transfers, and Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments

• Ensure all payments align with company policies and procedures

• Participate in the monthly close process by preparing various schedules and journal entries

• Maintain a complete and accurate vendor master file, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected

• Implement and maintain internal controls around the accounts payable process

• Act as a liaison between the accounts payable department and other internal groups, building strong relationships with vendors and suppliers

• Address complex vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements

• Prepare, review, and analyze aging reports and other related financial statements. Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Solid communication skills and an ability to work well with people at all levels.

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
