Location preference: Austin, TX, in office 3 days a week

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Compute team is seeking a passionate, experienced Principal Technical Program Manager ready to address complex business and technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. As OCI continues to scale to demands of an ever-growing customer base and regions, we need program managers who can drive large-scale initiatives to ensure OCI provides an outstanding customer experience while continuously improving the efficiency of development processes. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in the face of ambiguity and can quickly distill abstract ideas into concrete solutions, and has a consistent track record of delivering large-scale features and process improvements across a highly complex environment involving multiple organizations, departments and teams.

Our Technical Program Managers are required to define strategies for programs, identify technical impacts on the organization as they relate to business requirements, drive delivery, effectively communicate project status and suggest changes to use company resources more efficiently, regularly participate in executive meetings to present progress, and share project information with partners. This is a senior level role, leading programs with visibility up to the VP/SVP level of OCI.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Drive critical cross-organizational programs that span multiple departments, teams and organizations across OCI

  • Work across various service teams to scope, develop, identify success metrics and timelines for programs

  • Provide technical leadership, but not line management of cross-functional teams

  • Lead a portfolio of programs including operational improvements

  • Responsible for meeting deliverable deadlines

  • Define requirements scope, including estimations for deliverables such as requirements and conceptual design tasks and related documentation

  • Create risk management plans and maintain risk register

  • Host regularly scheduled status meeting with internal customers

  • Lead communication cross-department / cross-functional teams

  • Develop PMO deliverables; i.e. SOW’s, Project Charters, Project Timelines

  • Prepare communication plans and strategies for stakeholder engagement

  • Plan project deliverables; including hardware, resources, hours

  • Manage projects from implementation to closure

  • Drive critical cross-org programs within Compute organization

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years leading complex technical / engineering programs, preferably in Cloud

  • 8+ years relevant work experience in program and project management

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or Engineering

  • Ability to effectively represent engineering perspectives to partner organizations, product teams, and executive leadership

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and Development/Engineering staff at all levels including the executive level

  • Solid analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills with an ability to handle competing demands.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business need with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence

  • Ability to mentor and develop junior program and project managers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud services, virtualization, or SaaS products

  • Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills

  • Self-driven problem solver; able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and customer-focused environment

  • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) at different levels in the org

  • Experience using agile software development practices and associated tooling

US: Hiring Range: from $87,800 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
