Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

As a Machinist, you will be responsible for machining gears, pulleys, gauges, threaded products, and valves for various customers, primarily in the agriculture sector. You will work in a smaller shop environment, mainly setting up and operating CNC machines, including lathe live tooling machines with a twin spindle and bar feeder. The shop is also acquiring a Swiss Lathe soon, and you will work on high-volume production with minimal custom work.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathe live tooling machines and twin spindle machines with bar feeders.

  • Machine gears, pulleys, gauges, threaded products, and valves for customers.

  • Work on high-volume production with minimal custom or low piece work.

  • Understand and edit CNC programming code to set up the CNC machines.

  • Work independently on projects, demonstrating self-motivation and attention to detail.

Essential Skills

  • 2-5 years of CNC lathe experience.

  • Ability to set up and operate CNC machines.

  • Understanding of CNC programming code.

  • Experience with lathe live tooling machines, Swiss lathes, and bar fed machines.

  • Proficiency in machining, milling, and blueprint reading.

  • Knowledge of GD&T, micrometers, calipers, and machine troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Haas, Gibbscam, Mastercam, and G&M codes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Manual machining experience is a plus.

  • Experience with setup and/or programming is highly valued.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently on projects.

Work Environment

Work in a smaller custom shop with about 10-11 people across two shifts. The shop operates on a Monday to Thursday schedule with 10-hour days on the first shift. Expect organizational changes as the shop grows, providing a dynamic and evolving work environment.
