Kemin Industries External Site Liaison - Supply Chain in Des Moines, Iowa

Overview

We're hiring! Kemin has a new opportunity to join our Supply Chain team in Des Moines, Iowa. The External Site Liaison is responsible for leading and coordinating all farm and offsite manufacturing processes. This position will interface closely with the procurement, operations and supply chain teams with a particular focus on compliance, quality and production. The main purpose of this role is to ensure the supply risk is kept to a minimum, while maintaining cost effectiveness.

This position is a key representative of Kemin Industries and an intermediary with third party manufacturers. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance of offsite manufacturing with Kemin Industries’ EHS and quality requirements, and with regulatory, contractual, and financial frameworks. This role will maintain all offsite supply bases, delivering production flexibility and reliability at a competitive total cost and will coordinate and consult the appropriate Kemin Industries’ functions.

Responsibilities

  • Focused on supply & demand planning for all products in their assigned areas.

  • Ensures accurate data/information is utilized to make the best production planning decisions.

  • Ensure full compliance of offsite operations with Kemin’s EHS and quality requirements within all regulatory, contractual and financial frameworks.

  • Maintain positive relations with offsite and 3rd party supply base to deliver production flexibility and reliability at a competitive cost.

  • Oversee Offsite production sites and farms.

  • Oversee communication and process with offsite production locations.

  • Support Supply Chain and Scheduling for offsite production sites.

  • Work with Legal Department to update/establish Offsite Production Agreements

  • Arrange for raw materials to be shipped to the Offsite production sites as needed

  • Measure offsite manufacturing performance (capability mapping) and drive continuous improvement where appropriate

  • Investigate complaints and ensure resolution through the appropriate interfaces.

  • Obtain inventory requirements of raw materials to support production needs.

  • Set up M3 system for new products, manufacturing sites and warehouse to conduct manufacturing, warehousing and shipping in Kemin or offsite facilities.

  • Work with procurement to ensure that inventory requirements are met to support production needs.

  • Coordinate with the other Kemin groups such as procurement, quality assurance, operations, and warehousing to maintain a consistent supply and flow of product

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management with 3-5 years of related experience OR

  • Associate's Degree with 5-7 years of related experience OR

  • High School Diploma with 7+ years of related exerpience

  • Manufacturing operations experience highly desired

  • Understanding of 3rd party relationship management

  • Good knowledge of EHS, Quality, and Regulatory compliance frameworks

  • Demonstarted proficiency in management

  • Ability to perform analysis and develop reccomendations

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Microsoft Office skills; Excel, Word, and Power BI

  • Strong decision making abilities

  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a team environment

  • Travel up to 40% domestic
