Primary Health Care Clinic Administrator I in Des Moines, Iowa
As a Clinic Administrator I, you will be responsible for revenue cycle operations of assigned the clinical unit, including patient registration, payer mix and schedule optimization. You will collaborate with the Clinical Practice Manager in building a work culture that is based on PHC’s iCare values and supports collaboration between staff in different departments.
What You Will Do
Responsible for effective front-end operations including accurate registration through collection of required patient data and assignment of correct benefits. Ensures collection of patient co-pays and processes accurate deposits.
Monitors and takes action based on payer mix data in collaboration with the clinical and quality teams. Supports care coordination and efforts to close care gaps through front desk recall initiatives.
Monitors and proactively manages provider schedules to ensure optimal patient access. Assesses and maintains efficient patient flow. Ensures assigned staff are utilizing PHC Way puzzle pieces and EMR workflows to maximize patient access, employee satisfaction, and financial success.
Manages assigned personnel; responsible for scheduling, hiring, orientation, training, and performance management. Provides ongoing coaching, feedback and guidance to employees to aid in job and goal achievement.
Ensures patient access via telephone. Monitors phone metrics to ensure that patient calls are answered in established time frames. Responsible for ensuring a positive customer service experience for people in the clinic and on the phone.
Collaborates with Clinic Practice Manager to develop a culture within the clinic consistent with the organizational culture. Builds relationships within clinic to build trust, as well as patient, provider and employee satisfaction and engagement.
Ensures thorough and effective communication about clinic and agency information to assigned personnel; participates in clinic huddle with Clinic Practice Manager.
Manages financials of the front office operations including purchasing and expenses related to business operations, personnel costs, and revenue generation.
Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HRSA, and The Joint Commission, as well as local, state and federal regulations. Supports implementation of clinical best practices.
Implements strategic initiatives including leading change management efforts, informing and educating all clinic employees to ensure effective implementation.
Qualifications You Need to Bring
Required
Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 1 year ambulatory care experience.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on leadership/supervisory experience.
Supervisory skills with ability to effectively provide direction and feedback.
Strong detail orientation with high degree of accuracy.
Organization, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to work under minimal supervision.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office applications specific to word processing and spreadsheets.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, Accounting, or related field. Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of community health center management may be substituted for advanced education with approval of COO and CHRO.
Community Health Center and Medical or Dental clinic management experience.
Written and verbal bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
Knowledge or accounts payable and/or cash collection.
Program development and marketing skills.
Licenses & Certifications: RN license; Dental Assistant Registration. Lean process improvement certification.

Your skills and experience determine your base pay. The hiring range for this position is typically $47,120 - $58,900 per year . Candidates with extensive work experience related to this position may be considered for additional compensation up to the pay grade maximum of $70,680.
