Job Summary:

The Zimpleman College of Business is excited to launch its search for this new student-focused position. The Business Communications Coach will directly support, coach, and mentor the College's students.

The Business Communications Coach will serve as a business writing and presentation subject matter expert for our students. In this role, you will help students develop their professional writing and presentation skills by staffing regular face-to-face and virtual individual, team and group tutoring engagements. These activities would include brainstorming ideas for writing or presentation assignments, expanding and revising drafts of documents and slides, practicing presentations, and resolving challenges with writing and presentation skill areas.

Students in the college’s business acumen course series would be asked by faculty to meet with the Business Communications Coach as part of their experience.

In addition to coaching and mentoring, this role will serves as the instructor of record for two courses: BUS 122 (Practicum in Communication Leadership) and BUS 120 (Communication Leadership for Virtual Teams) in alternating fall semesters.

Desired Qualifications:

We are searching for applicants with:

• A bachelor’s degree is required; a graduate degree is preferred;

• At least five years of experience in business communications either in an in-house role or as a consultant;

• Demonstrable communication skills, including strong verbal communication, non-verbal communication, written communication, listening, and visual communication skills;

• An understanding of teaching, learning, and mentoring in academic, business, and other relevant settings;

• A commitment to undergraduate teaching; and

• A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom supportive of all students.

Job Duties:

40% - Work with students one-on-one and in small groups helping them develop their professional writing and presentation skills. These activities will include brainstorming ideas for writing or presentation assignments, expanding and revising drafts of documents and slides, practicing presentations, and resolving challenges with writing and presentation skill areas. - (Essential)

30% - Serve as the instructor of record for two courses: BUS 122 (Practicum in Communication Leadership) and BUS 120 (Communication Leadership for Virtual Teams) in alternating fall semesters. - (Essential)

20% - Collaborate with faculty teaching the college’s business acumen course series to meet with their students on individualized and group projects - (Essential)

10% - Support student advising and recruitment efforts, as directed. Attend College meetings and events, as directed. Perform other related duties, as assigned. - (Essential)

Salary & Benefits

We anticipate the starting salary to be in the range of $50,000 - $54,000. However, the final offered salary will be dependent upon the qualifications and experiences of the selected candidate.
