Job Description

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Department of Insurance & Financial Services - Banking.

Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.

The Iowa Division of Banking is seeking an experienced Windows Server and Network Administratorwith expertise in managing and maintaining a hybrid environment that integrates on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Azure.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems and network infrastructure that supports core organizational functions. The candidate may also assist in the completion of bank IT exams with increased complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Server and Network Management

• Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, backups, updates, and patches.

• Integrate and manage on-premises infrastructure with Azure cloud services including virtual machines, storage accounts, and virtual networks.

• Design, implement, and maintain network security and infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

• Assist in bank examination evaluation of server and network infrastructure.

• Endpoint Management and Support

• Deploy, configure, and maintain remote endpoint devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices) using MDM tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Management.

• Ensure endpoint security through regular updates, patches, and antivirus management.

• Provide technical support for users and endpoint devices and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

• Support the specialized examination software for examiners and implement remote access solutions for bank examinations.

• Documentation and Reporting

• Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, procedures, and project progress.

• Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets.

• Track the deployment and allocation of computer systems and peripherals.

• Conduct and evaluate regular security assessments and vulnerability management for IDOB systems and for bank examination as needed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows server and network administration.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure in a hybrid environment.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Certifications:

• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CompTIA Network+, or Cisco CCNA.

• Technical Skills

• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), cloud technologies (e.g., Azure, AWS), and automation/scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python).

• Proficiency in Windows server administration, networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs), and database administration (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).

• Understanding of security frameworks and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Ability to quickly grasp and adopt new technologies while continuously developing yourself.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
