This management position is responsible for leading circuit card automation build by the Process Center Engineering New Product Introduction Team and packaging development and build by the Microelectronics Team. The individual will lead all aspects of Direct and Indirect activities associated with non-Production work orders including technical talent and interfacing with all areas of input from design through product delivery.

This role will be performed ONSITE in our Collins Aerospace location in Coralville IA.

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities will encase new business capture, bidding activity, producibility reviews, new design and component integrations and process improvements including machine upgrades, roadmaps and design improvements.

  • Additional activities include the coordination and processing of Engineering builds in manufacturing, associated scheduling, machine programming, work instruction creation, material availability and packaging, process flow, new process creation, and quality, safety, cost improvements.

  • This person will act as liaison to PMO, Contracts, Purchasing, Pricing, Design, Drafting, Engineering and Production by coordinating Process Center financial, administrative, planning, technical development, design requirements and scheduling needs.

  • Also included is supervision of employees, advising, planning, leading by example, maintaining a successful management/labor partnership, and development and execution of future state lean plans and capital investment strategies.

  • The individual must be able to work directly with all levels of leadership in program management, marketing, finance, engineering, quality, cost and other related areas. Prior supervisory experience is preferred as is a working knowledge of Collins policies and practices including safety and the business scorecard.

  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of producibility, design, drafting, materials, project planning, manufacturing processes and both hardware and software engineering integration processes is required. This includes but is not limited to SAP, IMPACT, COMPASS, Statistical Process Controls, AutoCAD and Windows based software (Excel, Access, Word, etc).

  • The position also requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills. The individual must be capable of providing technical leadership in support of cost-effective business decisions as they relate to the successful manufacture of new and redesigned products.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An understanding of IPC 600, IPC 610, J-STD-001, and Collins Workmanship Standards.

  • Experience in analyzing, creating and updating design configurations to improve safety, quality, cost and schedule attributes related to the automation build of electronic assemblies including component configuration and packaging as well as Microelectronic packaging.

  • Working proficiency with Program Office, Design Engineering, Drafting, Producibility, Advanced Manufacturing, Application Engineering and Design to Cost.

  • Utilized tools such as DOEs, PFMEAs, VSM’s, etc. in making process improvements?

  • Basic understanding of SAP.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
