Join our Mission Systems Tactical Communication Systems Engineering Department and help shape, define, and design communication solutions that connect militaries around the world! We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal Engineering Program Chief professional. As an Engineering Program Chief, you will lead the design and development of military software-defined radio products covering all spectrum bands. You will play an integral role in developing the next generation of both networking and non-networking software defined radio waveforms for existing and new communication platforms. As a Program Chief, you will lead projects in military communications, networked communications, and program leadership. You will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and technically challenging environment. You must have a strong understanding of systems engineering, project management, and agile development processes.

Key responsibilities include overseeing system-level design trades, managing the requirements process, applying Scaled Agile Framework, designing communication system architecture, assessing program performance, and fostering technical collaboration across systems, hardware, and software functions. You will resolve cross-functional technical issues and contribute to the development of systems-related documentation.

What You Will Do

• YOU will lead a large program team in the system development lifecycle, at all levels of the total system product from concept and design to manufacturing and operation

• YOU will research and evaluate investments or changes in technology roadmaps, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of program execution in the organization

• YOU will assess design maturity and reviews technical risk

• YOU will take top-level accountability for the successful delivery of all engineering outputs and serve as the primary customer technical interface

• YOU will be accountable for cost, schedule and risk management performance and reporting including appropriate key metrics

Qualification You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualification We Prefer:

• Experience with Collins CORE

• Experience with Lean or Agile methodologies

• Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (CAMEO) for developing architectures and functional analysis

• Domain knowledge of military wireless communications including waveforms/protocols and networking protocols

• Domain knowledge in radio performance standards (military, commercial, FAA)

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
