CENTRAL IOWA POWER COOP Resource Planning Analyst in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) is currently searching for a Resource Planning Analyst to join the team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This position monitors changing regional transmission organization (RTO) requirements and manages CIPCOs resource adequacy obligations, counterparty list and master agreement development.   • Monitor RTO energy and capacity market developments and determine the impact on reporting requirements and business strategies.
  • Participate in RTO committees and working groups that relate to energy and capacity market matters.
  • Prepare load forecast and resource RTO data submittals.
  • Monitor CIPCOs resource adequacy position and recommend resource plan additions.
  • Participate in the cooperative-wide integrated resource planning (IRP) process.

New Resource Procurement:

  • Determine necessary regulatory capacity purchases and prepare contracts.
  • Monitor CIPCOs counterparty list. Recommend new counterparties and coordinate the development of new master agreements.

Data and Analysis:

- - Lead the effort to develop CIPCOs avoided cost and prepare Price Schedule C. - Perform economic analysis to support strategic decision-making across the organization. - Perform data analysis in areas of market performance and market pricing signals working with CIPCOs Business Intelligence tools. - Evaluate the use of energy storage or other new technologies on the CIPCO system.

Research:

  • Monitor changes in the industry, technology, energy markets, and regulatory framework to identify, analyze and quantify impacts to CIPCO.
  • Monitor new technologies and determine how they may fit into CIPCOs power supply.

Other:

  • Develop good working relationships with other departments within CIPCO and interface with consultants as needed.
  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations and attend conferences or training in pertinent areas.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting or other related field with a minimum 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in contract development and resource planning, including economic evaluation preferred
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate in a team environment and work cross-functionally
