MSA PROFESSIONAL SERVICES Project Engineer - Public Works (1022) in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa

Responsibilities
The work you may do
- Planning and design for a variety of municipal projects including but not limited to roadway design, utility design for sanitary sewer collection, storm sewer conveyance and water main distribution, trail design, site grading for projects ranging from storm water management to park and recreation and land development.
- Develop and implement project goals by interacting regularly with clients by telephone, email and in-person including Staff and Council meetings.
- Design development from Concept to Final Construction Documents.
- Detailed and accurate construction cost estimating.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and commitments while maintaining a high level of detail.
- Project Management or assisting Project Manager to successfully complete our projects on time and on budget.
- Preparation of high quality Plans and Construction Documents.
- Preparation of permit applications to various Regulatory Agencies for projects.
- Preparation of technical design reports for various municipal projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively on a multi-discipline team of Engineers, Planners, Landscape Architects and other technical staff to ensure the best results possible for our clients.
- Desire to mentor and share technical expertise with EIT and less experienced staff.
- Assist during construction with administration and observation to ensure timely communication between contractors and our clients as well as compliance with the intent of the project contract documents.
Qualifications
What you bring Skills and Knowledge / Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related) from an accredited college required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant civil engineering experience required
- Professional Engineering License required, in the sta e of Iowa preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
- MicroStation 3D experience a plus
- Experience using Iowa DOT and SUDAS Design standards and procedures preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with MSAs clients both written and verbally.
- Ability to read and develop Plan and Construction Documents for a variety of municipal infrastructure projects.
- Previous client liaison and project management experience or a desire to develop into that role preferred
