Job Description:
The Seed Science Center is seeking a Research Scientist I to lead and support research in seed conditioning, providing essential technical expertise to various on-campus and off-campus units. This role includes managing the loan and maintenance of seed conditioning equipment, coordinating software updates from vendors and sponsors, and serving as a key point of contact for facility tours with local, national, and international visitors interested in seed conditioning technology and practices.
The Research Scientist I will supervise undergraduate student assistants in seasonal seed conditioning activities and contribute to CALS teaching efforts by developing and delivering customized presentations, courses, and equipment demonstrations. Responsibilities include creating classroom materials and extension publications and coordinating seed conditioning summer workshops, covering critical topics like color sorting, specialty seed conditioning, corn conditioning, soybean and small grain conditioning, seed treatment, and gravity separation. Additionally, this role involves promoting these workshops and building partnerships with equipment vendors to enhance program visibility and support.
