Job Description
The Construction & Materials Bureau is looking for an intern in the central materials laboratory to assist with testing of cement and concrete materials. This position will be a good fit for an individual that is self-motivated and detail oriented. As an intern you will learn about the different tests the DOT conducts for Portland cement & fly ash materials, and concrete mixes that are used on highway construction projects. The intern will be exposed to quality control and quality acceptance processes of construction projects. There will also be opportunities for plant visits, field observations, and data analysis. Special projects could be assigned as needed.
This position has the capability of flexible hours.
Duration: May-August; 40 hours/week with option to continue part-time (up to 20 hours/week) during fall semester if student continues to meet eligibility requirements of the program.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Completion of at least two years in chemical, civil, construction, environmental, materials, mechanics, structural, or transportation engineering, or in an engineering management curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university with eligibility for junior status upon return to school.
